Dominion and Authority 

From the very beginning of creation, God established humanity with purpose, responsibility, and authority. Before sin entered the world, He entrusted Adam and Eve with the privilege of stewarding His creation.

Genesis 1:26-28 declares:

"Then God said, 'Let us make mankind in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over  all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth…. ”

God gave Adam and Eve dominion in the Garden of Eden—not to rule independently of Him, but to serve as His representatives and stewards on the earth. They were commissioned to be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, subdue it, and exercise wise dominion over all creation (Genesis 1:28). Their authority was a sacred trust, calling them to faithfully manage and care for everything God had placed under their stewardship in accordance with His will and purpose.

This assignment was never intended for Adam alone. Every human being has been created in God's image with purpose and the capacity to influence the world around them. For those who have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, this authority is even more significant because we now live empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Living Below Our Privilege

Sadly, many believers live far beneath the privileges God has provided. We often surrender to fear, doubt, discouragement, or passivity without realizing that Christ has already given us spiritual authority to stand firm against the enemy and partner with God through prayer, faith, and obedience.

Jesus reminded His disciples:

"Behold, I give unto you power... over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19)

This does not mean believers are exempt from trials. Rather, it means we have been equipped to face them with confidence, knowing that God has given us spiritual weapons and divine authority through Jesus Christ.

Prayer Activates Our Partnership with God

While God is sovereign, He has chosen to work through His people. Prayer is one of the greatest expressions of our partnership with Him.

James 4:2 reminds us:

"Ye have not, because ye ask not."

How many blessings remain unopened because we never prayed? How many doors remain closed because we never stepped forward in faith? There are opportunities, breakthroughs, healings, restored relationships, and transformed lives waiting on our willingness to seek God and obey His direction.

Prayer is not informing God of our needs—He already knows them. Prayer is aligning our hearts with His will and inviting His Kingdom to be manifested in our lives and in the earth.

Faith Requires Action

Authority without action accomplishes very little.

Throughout Scripture, God consistently called His people to move in faith:

Faith is demonstrated through obedience. Prayer should always be accompanied by an action plan directed by the Holy Spirit.

As the saying goes, "Pray as though everything depends on God, and work as though everything depends on you." In reality, we know everything depends on God, but He often chooses to accomplish His purposes through willing and obedient people.

God Is Never Far Away

One of the greatest comforts believers possess is knowing that God is always near.

Psalm 145:18 says:

"The Lord is near unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth."

God is not distant or uninterested in our lives. He listens. He cares. He responds according to His perfect wisdom and timing.

When we pray, Heaven hears.

When we trust, God strengthens.

When we obey, God moves.

Walk in Your Authority

Today is a wonderful opportunity to stop living beneath your spiritual privileges. Remember who you are in Christ. You are called to be a faithful steward, an ambassador of His Kingdom, and a vessel through which God's love, truth, and power can flow.

Take authority over fear.

Choose faith over doubt.

Pray with expectation.

Act in obedience.

Trust God's timing.

The same God who gave Adam dominion has called His children to reflect His Kingdom on the earth today. Through Jesus Christ, we have access to His presence, His promises, His power, and His peace.

Walk boldly in the authority God has given you, not for your own glory, but so that His will may be done "on earth as it is in heaven."

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me in Your image and entrusting me with purpose and responsibility. Help me to fully understand the authority I have through Jesus Christ. Strengthen my faith to pray boldly, obey quickly, and trust You completely. Teach me to walk in wisdom, humility, and courage as I fulfill Your calling on my life. May my words, actions, and decisions bring glory to Your name and advance Your Kingdom on the earth. In Jesus' name, Amen.
